Growing up in a musical household, Tracy went on to study jazz and contemporary music performance at Mount Royal on saxophone and piano.

Tracy has taught music extensively since then as both a private instructor and as a coach for youth and adult rock band programs. She performed a variety of musical styles in many bands, including Calgary favourites Project Mayhem, Sugarsnap, El Camino, and The Big Loud, as well as numerous freelance gigs backing solo and recording artists.
